BodyBalance 96 Highlights
Launching on Monday 4 July, this brand new release will run for 8 weeks until Saturday 27 August. Full track listings can be found below.
BB96 feels fluid, expansive and powerful!
We begin with movements which are simple and immersive. A tai-chi bow and arrow sequence warms and mobilises, as we focus the breath to connect deeply with love for our bodies. We then move through a series of familiar yoga poses, designed to activate the body for the workout which follows.
In the first of 2 sun salutations we have a simple heart-opening flow, which builds with each successive round. This is followed by a strength-based track, where a change of tempo brings a new challenge in the second set.
The music for standing strength is an interesting take on an early 80s classic, which you will definitely know, but it might take you a little while to recognise! We focus on the openness and grounded strength of triangle and extended warrior 2, with the option to bind the arms offering a further challenge.
In a strong balance track, we work through multiple planes of movement whilst maintaining heart and breath connection. The change of pace in the second round encourages us to let go and enjoy the magic of the journey.
Hip openers this time feature frog and the ever-wonderful swan, with its many possibilities to honour how your body is feeling today. As we sit in our stretches, we are reminded that the hips are a vessel for our emotions and that awareness allows us to let go through the power of the breath. This track also offers aspiring mermaids the time to practice and perfect this amazing pose.
The music for our abdominal track feels empowering and is perfect for the slow and deep work we do here. Watch out for the single set of Pilates 100s that really light up the core! The back track which follows targets the glutes and strengthens spinal extension, when we combine threading the needle with bridge pose in a brand new move.
We begin our wind down with a mellow twists track that offers a new take on intense and lunge pose rotations. Then, in the first of our forwards bends tracks we remain standing, with a focus in the breath to encourage presence in our bodies. We take it down to the ground for our second track, where the emphasis is on lengthening the sides of our bodies with half forward folds and spiral twists, before connecting to the earth for rest and recovery.
As always, our live classes feature an extended relaxation, this time with two beautiful meditation tracks - one from the current release and one we are re-visiting from BB92.
